Passed down from my grandmother, this is a variation on traditional Irish Soda bread that is more accurately called a Railway Cake or Spotted Dog. This bread is more of a dessert cake and is best eaten fresh out of the oven with butter and a good cup of tea! -- posted by JW-Re
This recipe was passed down to me by my Dad's Aunt. I have added a tweak that does not effect the original recipe at all. I find that it's not to dry as some soda breads can be. Has a nice slightly sweet flavor to it, but not too much that it tastes like a cake, it's a bread. I love this recipe and I admit I don't make it nearly enough. Enjoy -- posted by Carb Lover
I just received this recipe in my Betty Crocker newsletter - Bailey's in the cake and frosting, with a gorgeous chocolate glaze. Recipe originated at bakedbree.com. -- posted by Sweet Jezebel
